WiGIS is an ALL-VOLUNTEER organization, so members are encouraged to volunteer for one of our committees if possible. No experience necessary, but you must be a WiGIS member in good standing. Not a member? Find out how easy it is to become one! Awards and Scholarships CommitteeDescription: The Committee goal is to raise funds for scholarships and determine best candidates for recipients. Meets via Zoom 1st Saturday of the month, 6am PT / 7am MT / 8am CT / 9am ET External Engagement CommitteeDescription: Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with sponsors, volunteers, and the community at large to enhance the organization’s resources and support for the Women in GIS mission. Collaborate and liaise with the Internal Affairs and Outreach Committees as needed. Contact: admin@womeningis.org Internal Affairs CommitteeDescription: The Committee handles all internal and operational matters for the organization. These items include but are not limited to finance/budget, elections, membership and sponsor relations. Contact: admin@womeningis.org Mentorship CommitteeDescription: Responsible for managing, supporting, and growing the WiConnect Mentorship Program in collaboration with committee volunteers. Ensure mentors and mentees receive the necessary assistance needed to support their partnerships. See Events Calendar for any upcoming meetings Outreach CommitteeDescription: Responsible for engaging members and potential members, managing online calendar, posting activities and events, coordinating conference presence, maintaining social media sites and quarterly newsletters, coordinating local chapter efforts, etc. Also responsible for collecting and assessing suggested changes to website, making changes as appropriate and necessary to keep website up-to-date. Meets via Zoom on the 2nd Thursday of the month, 1pm PT / 2pm MT / 3pm CT / 4pm ET Professional Development CommitteeDescription: Responsible for offering professional development resources to our members and potential members. These include but are not limited to webinars, workshops and symposiums covering both technical (hard skills) and professional development (soft skills). Meeting schedule TBD. Committee meetings are posted on the Events Calendar. You must be a current, active WiGIS member (and logged into the site) to see the meeting details. You can also let us know of your interest by contacting the Chairperson of the committee(s) you are interested in via the email address provided on the left. In the body of your message, please identify which committee you are interested in and whether or not you have any special skillsets or interests that you believe would be beneficial to the organization (e.g. facilitation, web development, marketing experience, sponsor relations, etc.) Thank you! |
