Learn Negotiation Skills in this 3.5-hour virtual workshop.

Negotiation is a method by which people settle differences, and a process by which compromise or agreement is reached while avoiding argument and dispute. We negotiate when taking new jobs, when drafting contracts, when buying cars, and when getting children to eat their vegetables.

Negotiation is an incredibly complex and useful skill to have, but few people are taught how to negotiate in school, and society presses little girls in particular to be modest about success, to defer to the needs of others, and that standing up for their own needs makes them rude or uncooperative.

This applied workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the topic, discussing Why We Negotiate, What We Negotiate For, and What “Winning” Means in Negotiation. Following a discussion of the contradictions of “Negotiating While Female,” we will provide practical resources to learn how (and how not) to negotiate successfully.

    Thursday, April 11, 2024
    9:30am to 12:00pm (Pacific/Arizona*)
